AISMAC PLANS TO OPEN A CENTRE IN BIDI BIDI REFUGEES CAMP IN YUMBE DISTRICT

AISMAC plans to launch centre in Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement camp. Bidibidi is one of the world's largest refugee settlements, located in the Yumbe District of Uganda, The Camp was established in August 2016 to accommodate South Sudanese refugees fleeing civil war. Housing over 270,000 people at its peak, it serves as a permanent home for refugees, transforming from a temporary refuge into evolving communities with infrastructure and economic opportunities. The settlement is known for its significant scale, high population density, and the rapid influx of refugees that led to initial challenges with resources, but also for ongoing efforts to establish schools, solar power, and community initiatives. AISMAC in Collaboration with Team University aims to bridge the higher education and skills development gap within the camp and the host communities. Developing self reliant individuals and enhancing employability in the camp and host communities.
